Shawn Patrick O'Brien
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. O’Brien assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Profectus BioSciences Inc. in January 2008.  Mr. O’Brien has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry since 1983 and most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Solstice Neurosciences, Inc., a private emerging biotech specialty pharmaceutical company, specializing in neurological diseases and movement disorders. During his tenure at Solstice, O’Brien built the business platform, increased US sales by 90 percent, opened the EU market with a new partner, secured key intellectual property, expanded the clinical development program and secured $ 85 million in private funding.

Previously, Mr. O’Brien worked with AstraZeneca USA as vice president of commercial operations for emerging brands, and as vice president and therapy area leader for the respiratory and inflammation business unit. As the business area leader, Mr. O’Brien was responsible for research and development, marketing and sales of the $ 1 billion US respiratory franchise. From 1987 through 2001, he held various management positions at AstraZeneca in global and domestic roles in the USA, Canada, and the UK. Earlier, he was with the Upjohn Company of Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.

Jeffrey Meshulam
(Chief Operating Officer)
Prior to joining the Company in 2005, Mr. Meshulam was Director of Corporate Development at the Institute of Human Virology from 1996-2004.  Prior to that he held various positions in the biotechnology industry including founder, Cellular Products, Inc. where he held various positions from 1983-1996, including Chairman CEO, President CEO and Executive Vice-President.  Cellular Products was a small publicly held biotechnology company specializing in the development, manufacturing and marketing of blood screening and research assays for human retroviruses. Under his leadership, Cellular Products developed, conducted clinical trials, received FDA approval, produced and marketed blood screening assays for HIV and HTLV-I. Cellular Products also was first to commercially market a kit for HIV p24.  In his positions with Cellular Products, Mr. Meshulam was directly responsible to develop and oversee joint development projects with small and large corporations which ultimately lead to commercialization of two FDA approved products and in excess of 100 for research use products.  Mr. Meshulam also served as President of Northern Scientific, Inc. a small ophthalmic manufacturer prior to him selling all manufacturing rights to Chiron. Northern Scientific was the sole commercial provider of MK Corneal Storage Media a vital product for the storage and transport of corneas for transplant internationally.  Mr. Meshulam received a BA in Biology from SUNY Buffalo in 1979.

Timothy R. Fouts, Ph.D.
(Director, Research and Development)
Prior to joining the Company in 2005, Dr. Fouts was an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Human Virology.  Dr. Fouts is an expert in the development of soluble envelope proteins as vaccine immunogens against HIV, characterization of HIV neutralizing antibodies, as well as the development of vaccine reagents (bacterial as well as soluble proteins) for clinical evaluation. He is one of the inventors of the vaccine, therapeutic and adjuvant technologies that form the intellectual property portfolio of Profectus BioSciences. Dr. Fouts received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.  Prior to becoming an Assistant Professor, Dr. Fouts did his postdoctoral work with Dr. John Moore at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in New York and Dr. Anthony DeVico at the Institute for Human Virology.
